I love knitting things for babies. As I knit, I can imagine the little guys cuddling beneath the blanket, or hugging the stuffed animal, or their little feet being warmed up by knit booties, or their sweet chubby arms fitting through the arms of a sweater. Don't you love babies?! Here are a few things that I have knit for the babies among my family and friends.
I just finished this for my friend's soon-to-be-baby. It is called Organic Heirloom Blanket and the pattern is in Vintage Knits for Modern Babies. I used Lion's Brand Nature's Choice organic cotton yarn in Pistachio. It was so much fun to knit. It's a very simple pattern that looks more difficult than it is. It's warm and light at the same time. I want to knit like, a hundred of them.
I knit this little guy for a baby named Levi. This pattern is also in Vintage Knits for Modern Babies, lots of good patterns in there.

This baby sweater is for my niece, Delaney. Are you starting to see a theme here? Babies like green! It will go with whatever they are wearing. See how the bunny's green stripes match Levi's green stripes?
Here's a close up of the raglan detail. The pattern for this sweater is from Knitting in Plain English. But you'll find it in lots of baby knitting books, it is a classic sweater design.
This is my version of the Big Bad Baby Blanket. The BBBB calls for four squares, but I thought 16 would be cooler and more classic looking. Ignore the hamper in the background, and the unfinished piece of yarn sticking out of the blanket. Don't worry, I took care of that before I gave it to my sister. Here is a close up shot showing the 3 different stitches used.
So if you're having a baby, tell me and I'll knit something for him or her. Odds are it will be green, though.
